This opportunity is posted by a company subject to CGP (Controlled Goods Program).

Objectives

Develop a lean project management process that integrates the System Engineering discipline and increases project lifecycle efficiency within the Innovation department

Description

An innovation program has identified need to harmonize project management processes with the those of the New Product & Service Introduction (NP&SI) used in the commercial division:

Project Engineering within innovation have the freedom to custom design project phases, activities, milestones, and deliverables according to personal preference.  This philosophy strives to preserve a lean work environment.  The challenge is when a project grows beyond a certain size and complexity, communication and accountability become laborious and the potential for missed objectives increases.  A standardization of project processes catered to the innovation environment will increase efficiency and reduce errors.

A lean project management process will help innovation on two fronts:

  1. Define how and when to involve system engineers
  2. Increase efficiency and accuracy in project execution.

We are looking for an intern to help the System Engineer develop the lean project management process.  The intern will have the opportunity to familiarize with project management tools and best practices for both commercial and innovation product development environments.  Along the way, interaction with key stakeholders within each department will give exposure to engineering disciplines ranging from design, analysis, flight test, certification, supply chain, production, quality, marketing and many more.
