Informations pratiques

Using a quantum computer, it is possible to simulate combinatorial optimization problems that are relevant to many applications such as finance and resource allocation. This micro-wil will introduce students to the use of the Qiskit library to perform quantum optimization using the QAOA quantum algorithm on specific examples of the MaxCut problem and provide tools to use the QAOA algorithm to solve other types of problems that can be written in the same terms.

Description

Part 1: Theory (50 minutes + 40 minutes Q&A)

Introduction to the basic concepts for using Qiskit

  • Binary optimization
  • Quadratic programs
  • MaxCut problem
  • QAOA and hybrid quantum-classical algorithms.

Part 2: Practical programming session (60 minutes + 30 minutes Q&A).

Use of Qiskit tools for:

  • Quadratic programs
  • Converters (from a graph to a Hamiltonian operator).
  • QAOA circuit
  • Classical optimization of a parameterized quantum circuit.
