Description

Bell Textron Canada is a vertical lift company focused on innovation, customer experience and superior service and support for customers around the globe. From engineering to finances and supply chain, the company is represented by more than a thousand high-skilled employees working in various aspects of the business.

 

During this micro-WIL, you will get an overview of the different career paths possible in the company, as well as having the opportunity to visit the Mirabel assembly plant. You will also participate in an open discussion about the future of vertical lift, as well as having the occasion to network with different managers and technical experts at the end of the micro-WIL.

Objectives

  • Introduce young future professionals to the company by giving them an overview of the activities carried out at our Mirabel facilities.
  • Network with talented young people to fill short-term internship and/or job vacancies for new graduates.

Format

MORNING - 8:30 A.M. TO 12:30 P.M.

  • 8:30 to 9:30 - Presentations of different career paths at Bell
  • 9:30 to 10:00 - Open discussion on the future of vertical flight
  • 10:00 to 11:20 - Networking session with various managers and technical experts
  • 11:20 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Factory tour (please bring closed-toe, flat-heeled shoes)
  • 12:30  - End of micro-WIL

 

 

AFTERNOON (OPTIONAL)

You can choose between 3 activities:

 

1) Engineering University Clubs Competition

Bell is inviting teams competing or executing academic engineering projects in aerospace related design to present an overview of their project covering the aspects of deliverables, schedule and cost, as well as design, manufacturing and testing approach. The presentations will take place in the context of a competition and will be judged by a panel of engineering technical experts. Teams with the best presentations will win sponsorship prizes.
 

2) Women in Tech Conference

Meet with several of our women engineering employees as well as other technical fields. This part of the day consists in a presentation given by each of these women on their academic and professional background, as well as their daily activities, followed by a question period.
 

3) Scientific Paper Competition

Students are invited to participate in this local oral presentation competition organized in collaboration with the Montreal chapter of the VFS (Vertical Flight Society). The subject of the presentations must be closely or loosely related to vertical take-off aircraft and must summarize the content of a scientific paper that he/she wishes to present at the next VFS Forum (May 20-22, 2025 at Virginia Beach).

 

The winning student of the local oral presentation competition will receive a one-year membership to the VFS. In addition, his/her paper will be sent to the VFS main office to compete against the winners from each VFS local chapter. The overall winner will receive accommodation and travel expenses for the Forum (up to $1,500) in addition to a $500 scholarship from Bell Textron to present his/her paper.

 

The presentation at the local competition must be 20 minutes long and can be in English or French, but the final presentation at the VFS in May 2025 will be in English. The winning student of the local competition must submit his/her completed paper to the VFS chapter by February 20, 2024, for evaluation by the VFS General Office. FOR THOSE TAKING PART IN AN AFTERNOON ACTIVITY, LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED BY BELL TEXTRON CANADA.

Registration Criteria

  • Be a post-secondary student enrolled in a Canadian educational institution.
  • Spaces are randomly assigned regardless of date and time of registration, however, registrations received by the end of December will be given priority.

Requirements for successful completion of the micro-WIL

  • Be present for the entire duration of the micro-WIL
  • Complete and submit the assignment by midnight (EST) before January 20
  • The assignment can be written in French or English
